Sue Kissinger sworn in as District 10 Chief Probation Officer

A ceremony was held on January 22, 2026, at the Adams County Courthouse to officially swear in Sue Kissinger as Chief Probation Officer for District 10. The district covers Adams, Clay, Nuckolls, Webster, Kearney, Phelps, Harlan and Franklin Counties. Judge Morgan Farquhar administered the oath of office.

Attendees included chief probation officers from across Nebraska, local judges, stakeholders and representatives from state administration.

Kissinger started her new role on November 1, 2025. She took over after the retirement of Joe Budnick and is now the 70th person to serve as a chief probation officer in Nebraska’s history.

Mary Visek will retire as Chief Probation Officer for District 4J on June 5 after nearly forty years serving Douglas County. Her career included leadership roles during times of growth within Nebraska’s judicial system.
