The Sarpy County Reentry Court held a graduation ceremony on March 4 at the Sarpy County Courthouse in Papillion, with Judge Stefanie Martinez presiding over the event.
The ceremony marks the completion of a program designed to help participants reintegrate into society through drug treatment, supervision, and accountability. The event highlights ongoing efforts to support individuals as they transition back into their communities.
The Sarpy County Reentry Court uses a team-based approach similar to other Nebraska Problem-Solving Courts. The team includes a judge, prosecutor, defense counsel, community supervision officer, law enforcement, and treatment provider who work together to create individualized programs for each participant. Compliance is monitored through frequent alcohol and drug testing, intensive community supervision, and regular court review hearings. Home and field visits are also used to enhance oversight of participants.
The State of Nebraska Judicial Branch engages communities through educational initiatives such as traveling oral arguments at schools and provides resources on guardianship and mediation, according to the official website. The branch maintains court facilities across the state to ensure public access and extends its services across 18 judicial districts that cover both urban and rural areas of Nebraska. Leadership within the branch includes seven Supreme Court justices along with judges from appellate, district, and county courts. Standardized rules and forms are used statewide to support consistent court operations. The branch also focuses on delivering justice with integrity while supporting self-represented litigants and improving community access to legal resources.
