The Sarpy County Juvenile Drug Court held a graduation ceremony on January 13, 2026, at the Sarpy County Courthouse in Papillion. Judge Jonathan Crosby presided over the event, which recognized a participant who completed the court’s program. Representatives from the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office, Andrew Erickson, and from the Sarpy County Public Defender’s Office, Todd West, were present.

Graduation from this program signifies that a participant has finished an intensive process involving substance use treatment, close supervision by community authorities, and accountability measures. Upon completion of the program, participants have their charges dismissed.

Juvenile Drug Courts are designed to offer nonviolent youth offenders with drug-related issues an alternative route through the justice system. The approach is team-based and works within the existing court structure. These courts aim to lower repeat offenses and reduce substance use among young people while also promoting public safety.

The program uses evidence-based methods such as risk and needs assessments that have been validated for accuracy. Participants receive early and individualized behavioral health treatment, undergo frequent random drug testing, and are subject to a structured system of incentives and sanctions. Additional rehabilitative and supportive services are provided to help participants achieve long-term recovery and reintegrate successfully into society.

Heather Moran serves as the Problem-Solving Court Coordinator for more information about the program.
