The Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation began a new phase of Program Management Training in January, according to an April 21 announcement. Fourteen program managers are participating in this six-month course, which is led by Probation Program Directors.
The expansion of this training matters because it is the first time Court staff have joined a program previously offered only to Probation employees. By bringing together leaders from both areas, the initiative aims to promote collaboration, improve communication, and build relationships across divisions within the Judicial Branch.
Participants will develop skills in implementation science, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, data oversight, performance management, and change leadership. The goal is for managers to gain broader perspectives on how their decisions affect other divisions and programs while supporting unified leadership for long-term program success.
The State of Nebraska Judicial Branch operates across 18 judicial districts that cover both urban and rural parts of the state according to its official website. It includes leadership from a Supreme Court composed of seven justices as well as judges from appellate, district, and county courts according to its official website. The branch maintains court facilities statewide to ensure public access according to its official website and supports standardized rules and forms for consistent operations throughout Nebraska according to its official website.
In addition to internal training efforts like this one, the Judicial Branch engages communities through educational activities such as traveling oral arguments at schools along with resources on guardianship and mediation according to its official website. The branch also focuses on delivering justice with integrity while assisting self-represented litigants and enhancing community access to legal resources according to its official website.
