An Omaha couple has pleaded guilty to charges related to bringing in and harboring undocumented immigrants. According to United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods, Miguel Angel Salazar-Zuniga, 37, originally from Mexico, entered his plea on July 17, 2025. Angela Rocio Urrutia Cruz, 35, originally from Colombia, pleaded guilty the following day. Both appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Ryan C. Carson in Omaha.

Sentencing for Salazar-Zuniga and Urrutia Cruz is scheduled for October 15, 2025, before United States District Court Judge Brian C. Buescher. Each faces a maximum penalty of up to ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment fee. The couple also agreed to forfeit their residence on North 34th Street in Omaha because it was used during the commission of these crimes.

The two owned MASU Construction LLC and Angela’s Cleaning Services LLC and operated out of their North 34th Street home in Omaha.

From May 1, 2022 through May 28, 2025, Salazar-Zuniga and Urrutia Cruz encouraged several individuals to enter or stay illegally in the United States.

Salazar-Zuniga admitted that a Mexican national who crossed into the country near Nogales, Arizona with his family in November 2024 lived at their North 34th Street residence. This individual paid $300 per month for rent and worked at MASU Construction LLC earning $800 weekly.

Urrutia Cruz admitted arranging for a Colombian citizen’s illegal entry into the United States in September 2023 by sending three money transfers intended for food and payment to a “coyote.” She also helped arrange the coyote’s services for crossing the border. When stopped by Border Patrol agents, this person gave Salazar-Zuniga and Urrutia Cruz’s Saratoga address as his destination. After arriving in the country, Urrutia Cruz bought him a plane ticket from San Diego to Omaha where he stayed at their home on North 34th Street and paid $160 monthly for rent and expenses while working at her cleaning business.
