Roberto Lamadrid Campuzano, a 38-year-old citizen of Mexico, was sentenced in Omaha federal court on August 8, 2025, for illegally reentering the United States after being convicted of an aggravated felony. Chief Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down a sentence of 24 months in prison. After completing his prison term, Lamadrid Campuzano will serve three years of supervised release. Federal prisoners are not eligible for parole.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Lamadrid Campuzano came to the attention of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) following a traffic stop by Bellevue Police Department on April 4, 2025. Law enforcement had previously identified him as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha gang, also known as MS-13.
On April 10, 2025, HSI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents observed Lamadrid Campuzano leaving his residence and arriving at a construction site in Elkhorn, Nebraska. He was arrested during his lunch break at the work site and subsequently processed by authorities who confirmed his identity.
Lamadrid Campuzano had been ordered removed from the United States on October 6, 2006. He was physically removed from the country on May 30, 2014. When he was found in Nebraska this year, he did not have authorization from either the Attorney General or Secretary of Homeland Security to return.
His criminal record includes convictions in Pottawattamie County, Iowa on August 1, 2006 for intimidation with a dangerous weapon, criminal gang participation and reckless use of a firearm resulting in serious injury.
