United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods has announced the sentencing of Adrian Barron-Valdez, 47, a Mexican national, for illegally reentering the United States after an aggravated felony conviction. On June 27, 2025, Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. sentenced Barron-Valdez to 21 months in prison without parole. Following his release, he will serve a three-year term of supervised release.

Barron-Valdez came to the attention of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Nebraska on December 7, 2024, after being arrested on state charges in Omaha. He was released to ICE custody on December 26, 2024. Upon arrest by ICE and processing at their Omaha office, fingerprint results confirmed his identity and criminal history.

Barron-Valdez is a citizen of Mexico with no legal status in the United States. He had been removed from the country six times since receiving a removal order on December 18, 2004; his most recent removal was on November 3, 2021. In addition to illegal reentry charges, Barron-Valdez was previously convicted for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Nebraska federal court in June 2013.

There is no record that Barron-Valdez obtained permission from U.S. authorities to reapply for admission into the country.

The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
