Dale Patrick Grant, 37, of Sioux City, Iowa, was sentenced in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska, for failing to register as a sex offender. The sentencing took place on January 9, 2026. Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., imposed a sentence of 21 months in prison. After serving his prison term, Grant will be subject to five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Grant had previously been convicted in January 2020 in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska for sexual abuse of a minor and received a sentence of 48 months’ imprisonment. As a result of this conviction, he was required to register as a sex offender and update his address if it changed. He acknowledged this obligation in writing when released from federal prison onto supervised release in March 2024.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office: “Despite his duty to register, beginning in late June 2025, Grant failed to update his registered address after leaving his registered residence in Omaha.” Law enforcement located Grant in Grand Island and took him into custody in August 2025.

The United States Marshals Service conducted the investigation leading to these charges.
