The Cass County Adult Treatment Drug Court held a graduation ceremony on January 20, 2026, at the Cass County Courthouse in Plattsmouth. Judge Michael A. Smith presided over the event, which marked the successful completion of the program by one participant. Richard Fedde from the Cass County Attorney’s Office and Angela Minahan from the Cass County Public Defender’s Office attended the ceremony.

The graduate completed a program that combines substance use treatment with community supervision and personal accountability. Nebraska’s Problem-Solving Courts operate through collaboration among judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, coordinators, community supervision officers, law enforcement officials, and treatment providers to create individualized recovery plans aimed at reducing repeat offenses.

Participants in the Cass County Adult Drug Court must engage in at least 18 months of intensive activities. The program is designed to provide tools and support for participants to achieve stable lives without drugs. Graduates who finish successfully have their charges dismissed.

For more information about this program or future ceremonies, interested parties can contact Creston Ashburn, Problem-Solving Court Coordinator, by phone at (402) 593-2132 or via email at creston.ashburn@nejudicial.gov.
